Donate a BedWe have chosen Kuranda dog beds for our boarding facilities because they are so good for our dogs. We still don't have enough for all of our kennels. If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.
"Behavior Problems" is one of the top reasons people give for surrendering and even euthanizing their dogs. Most behavior problems aren't that hard to solve. The Bloomingdale Regional Animal Shelter is now holding Obedience Training Classes given by our trainer Vince Rambala. These classes will boost your dog's confidence, build a bond between you and your dog, and make training positive and fun. Come to the classes and make your dog a "good citizen." Beginner Training Packages include six weeks of Group Training plus equipment for $130. Novice classes begin after completion of Basic. Agility Training Classes are also available. Call 201-337-7299, email pawws@hotmail.com or go to www.vincerambaladogtraining.com for more info.

"He is...your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are...his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours...faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him...to be worthy of such devotion"

Who We Are...

BASS (The Bloomingdale Regional Animal Shelter Society) has been the local shelter for the communities of Butler, Bloomingdale, Pompton Lakes, Riverdale, Ringwood and Wanaque for over 10 years. We have a dedicated volunteer staff, all of whom are committed to finding loving homes for the animals in our care. BASS takes in stray, abandoned and owner surrendered pets and works very hard to place them in new and loving homes. Animals that have been impounded as a result of cruely or neglect come to BASS as well and we spend many, many hours giving them the love and comfort they deserve. All of our animals have passed a health and temperament check. We are proud of our success rate and look forward to many great things.

BASS DOES NOT RECEIVE ANY MONEY FROM THE SIX TOWNS WE SERVE. We survive mainly on donations and membership support. Please help support us so that our work can continue. Thank you.

Animals are not disposable! Animals are not articles of clothing to be thrown out once they are no longer in style. They are capable of bonding deeply with their families. Adopting a pet means making a life-long commitment, which can easily be 10-15 years for dogs and up to 20 years for a cat. Source: ASPCA

Volunteers
Almost half of all Americans volunteer, supporting the causes they care about. Most people volunteer because someone asks them to. By volunteering, you become a stakeholder in your community. One of the great things about getting involved in your community is the opportunity to gain a variety of new experiences and meet new people. We always need help at the shelter and at our fundraisers. You can work directly with our dogs and cats or behind the scenes. If you love animals and want to donate supplies and/or time, call 973-838-2220 and speak with a BASS representative. Volunteer and make a difference!

THE REGION'S HOMELESS ANIMALS NEED YOU!

Foster Homes
Have room in your home and in your heart? If so, provide temporary care for cats and/or dogs. Help socialize them and get them ready for new homes. Provide a safe haven for animals with litters or treatable illnesses.

Membership
Help support homeless animals and join our membership program. The Bloomingdale Regional Animal Shelter Society prides itself on giving our animals the best care possible. All of our animals are vaccinated and spayed before they go to new homes. In addition to providing food, medical care and shelter for our guests, we bring them to training classes to teach them to be good citizens, we provide blankets and beds for them to sleep on as well as toys and kongs filled with food for them to play with. However, there are many more goals we want to accomplish in the future - a dog reality room, a spay/neuter clinic, etc. Please help us by making a tax-deductible membership donation.

  • Family Membership - $30
  • Individual Membership - $20
  • Student/Senior Citizen - $10

How to Make a Donation

As a non-profit organization, lack of money is always an issue. We do not receive funding from the towns we service which makes BASS rely on donations, fundraisers and the small fees we collect for adoptions. In order to achieve our goals we rely on the support of the communites we serve and the hard work of our volunteers. You can help by making a tax-deductible contribution which will directly help the animals. Send your check to The Bloomingdale Regional Animal Shelter Society, PO Box 24, Bloomingdale, NJ, 07403

Directions

The Bloomingdale Regional Animal Shelter is located in Passaic County, near the Butler/Bloomingdale exit off Route 287 (Exit 53). After taking the exit, make a left at the light. Brandt Lane is the first right after the Riverdale Bridge, about 1 mile down the Hamburg Turnpike. Be careful though! Brandt Lane is a SHARP right - you'd better make a u-turn at the Gulf Station and catch it from the opposite direction. See you there!
